As most of you know by now, Heloise and I are always happy to help with the bumps along the road of knitting such as dropped stitches and other quick fixes.
Going forward we ask that you try to come in on Tuesdays & Thursdays for any extra help needed. If you are unable, we ask that you give us a call to schedule some private time with Heloise and me.
We hope everyone understands our need to have specified dates for such things, as this will allow us a bit more time to manage the usual daily routine of keeping the shop up to date.We thank you sooooo much.
Merci Beaucoup!!

Okay, you’ve drank the kool aide and we are all now knitting with more than one color at a time! We here you folks out there grumbling, “my yarn is all tangled, I’m all fingers & I’m just not that coordinated”!!!
So here is our suggestion: learn to knit continental. No more tangling of the yarn and you will have added one more technique to your arsenal of knitting!!!A great technique class to take for those of you who have knit socks with Sally and want to take her Fair Isle Sock Class scheduled on the following Saturday!

      $50.oo for two – 2 hours classes.
This will be our basic lace class given this year to gear everyone up for our One Year Anniversary of Lace Knitting!!!!
Thanks again Grumperina for the use of your patterns in our class schedule!!!
Short rows create a sense of movement in the fabric of the Volna scarf. Simple eyelets and a serrated border enhance the effect, allowing the eye to follow the progression of knitting, from row to row, wave to colorful wave. The pattern works up quickly: it is garter stitch-based (so, the scarf is reversible and there’s no purling!), easy to memorize, and very addictive!
TECHNIQUES used in this design: basic lace knitting, increases and decreases, short rows, reading charts.

Time   1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
  Subject   Crochet 102
      $35.00
Ruffled Scarf (pattern provided)

We are nearly there…..

After another long day of painting, patching and cleaning up behind the crew, I head home.

During my drive home my mind is jumbled with the happenings of the day….  Such as, why do I bother sweeping up the drywall powder and sawdust (which is not very mindful under the will of my broom) only to find this same ritual needed once again the next day and the next.  As each day passes I find myself restraining the ever persistent need to shout, “Hurry!! Hurry!!!” in Spanish to the hardest working folks I’ve ever seen.  Oh, I didn’t tell you, my brother in law who has generously donated his work crew to aid our endeavour has neglected to mention that there might be a bit of a language barrier……  Well these two guys have worked non stop since they began, constantly smiling and nodding their heads when I try to explain myself.  There is one worker in particular whom I’ve called Bill since day one.  I assumed this was his name since he wore a western style belt with the words “Bill” stenciled on it.  I was certain he was deliberately ignoring me when I was calling his name until today, when I found out his name was Miguel.  So now that I know his correct name our language barrier is starting to become less noticeable.  We’ve only got a couple of days left to go…..

In the past several days Heloise and I have been totally blown away with the amount of folks who stop by and ask, “is this where the new yarn shop is going to be?” And then there are the folks who just happen to walk by and notice us at work and want to know what kind of store this will be and are delighted to know that there is soon to be a yarn shop in their neighborhood!!  The other day we had a couple of ladies from Katy surprise us with a visit, their excitement of the new shop gave us a renewed since of energy to power us through the rest of our work day….  Thank You Ladies…  I really needed that boost!!!

Back to my drive home…  I worry about many things, will I be carrying the yarn that everyone will want to see and will there be enough?  Should I try to place another order, and will it make it in time?  Will the Addi’s ever get here?  I wonder if anyone will want the Addi Clicks?  Is there such a thing as too much Alpaca?  What about lace, will there be many lace knitters?

And then my mind relaxes as it drifts back to this afternoon when I walked over to Jason’s Deli for a quick bite.  I noticed an elderly couple whom I had seen several days ago seated in the same booth.  She sat straight back smiling while he had his head under the table as if he was searching for something.  After placing my order I also found myself sitting at the same booth as well.  With my back to the couple I saw a ball of yarn came rolling down between the tables.  I got up and chased the ball across the floor and turned to find the elderly gentlemen rushing behind me to collect his wife’s yarn.  While we walked back to our tables he explained to me that his wife of many years has always had a knitting project in her hands.  He explained that two years ago she was diagnosed with early stages of dementia and her condition is steadily declining.  He said the only time she was calm and relaxed was usually when she had a ball of yarn in her hand, running the fiber through her fingers.  As we sat there talking I noticed that she was very focused on what she was making, as if she was counting her stitches and rows.  He said he’d noticed the shops new banner and wished us well for he knew his wife would have been one of our best customers.

And with his words, I realized that all is fine, all is well and everything will fall into place as it was meant to be…….

Brightest Blessings,

Jennifier

See everyone soon,

Happy April 1st!!!!

Here is hoping that we don’t get fooled today and they hold off on giving us our keys for another day or two…….  If they do, they will soon know the wrath of these two Cajun Ladies… lol  My husband says, “boy they don’t want to know what that is like” .  Kind of like a category 4 hurricane and growing fast…

Here’s hoping all goes according to plan.

Promise to keep everyone posted….
